Rubbing Elbows With Celebrity Nathan Fillion

Ever have a fangirl (or boy) moment that you'll remember forever? I had one of those with Nathan Fillion while attending the World Premiere Red Carpet event for Cars 3 back in June of 2017. 

Nathan Fillion has starred in some amazing movies and television programs. Most recently, one of my favorite shows, The Rookie. He has also done some voice acting including voicing Sterling in the movie Cars 3. At the Cars 3 World Premiere is where I had a chance to rub elbows with Nathan Fillion.

Meeting Nathan Fillion

Attending a red carpet event is definitely a memorable experience but the highlight for me was meeting Nathan Fillion. I truly had a fangirl moment. However, that moment didn’t happen until later in the evening at the after-party. The after-party for the premiere was held in Cars Land at Disney California Adventure. The perfect venue for Cars 3.

Right Place, Right Time

There are a lot of “celebrity sightings” and chances to get pictures but we hadn’t spotted Nathan at all that night. Sometimes you just have to be in the right place at the right time. That’s what happened with Nathan. It was getting towards the end of the night, my friend and I looked up, and there he was, dancing right in front of us. 

Nathan was so friendly and nice and happily took a selfie with me. I was so nervous that I didn’t even manage to look at the right camera lens on my phone. At least I have a picture. 

How did I end up at the Cars 3 World Premiere?

I have been fortunate enough to work with Disney for the last 10 years and have been invited to cover some events like these. We spend one or two days in interviews with cast members, producers, directors, and writers. Sometimes the red carpet event is included in the coverage as well.

At these events, I’ve tried to remain professional and keep the awkward moments to a minimum. I don’t normally fangirl with celebrities but with Nathan, I wasn’t as calm, cool, and collected as I would have liked. Neither here nor there, it sure is a day that I will remember forever.
