You got what from the pet store?

At my dad's back when I was in high school, as a household all 8 of us decided that we wanted another house animal. We had 1 small dog named Jetta and a fat cat named Charm. One day While I was at wrestling practice my family went to the pet store, they went to get some more fish for my dad's saltwater tank. At the time we had not decided what kind of new animal that we wanted, did we want another dog? Did we want another cat? We couldn't really decide, so when they told me before I had wrestling practice that they were going to the pet store for some fish, I didn't think twice about it and just carried on with the rest of my day.  

Then when I was done with practice and my mom picked me up from practice(my parents are divorced)  I got into the car and I texted my dad and said " Hey, what kind of fish did you get from the pet store?" He replied and said "Just a clownfish, some Green Chromis, and a Ferret. I replied confusingly and said, "You got a what from the pet store!" Yep, that's right folks my family went out and got a new family pet without me. I was pretty upset about it, so the next day I go to my dad's after wrestling practice and go take a look at this ferret. I've never seen one, or know what they really do, or are like so it was a very interesting first experience.

After a few days I was in love with him, we named him Oliver, Ollie for short. He was the biggest ball of energy and was so much fun to play with. But after doing some research we found that ferrets get depressed when they are alone and without a mate. So boom, again my family went out to the pet store without me and came home with another ferret later that week. I was like seriously? But we ended up naming her Mindy, and she is the sweetest little thing. Unlike Ollie, she is very gentle and quiet, she doesn't bite you and loves to cuddle. On the other hand, Ollie will bite you whenever he gets the chance and can never sit still unless he is sleeping.

Ferrets are very social animals and love to play with eachother and humans alike. Our whole family fell in love with them and it wasn't too long before all the kids were fighting over who could hold them and etc. But if you dare ask anyone to clean up after them and clean out their cage they would all act like they didn't hear you and run away, typical kids. 

Today we have a total of 3 ferrets, we adopted Frankie last year from a home that didn't know how to take care of him and he was alone. He has loved his new home and his new friends since he has arrived. Like Ollie was when we first got him, Frank was a ball of energy and was always down to play. But he was worse when it came to biting, he would bite me all the time and play really rough with Mindy. So the first few nights we had him I had to keep him separated from the other ferrets so he learned to socialize better. If you ever get a ferret, please make sure to get at least two, their depression and loneliness can actually kill them.
