Avoid Keto Flu With This Homemade Electrolyte Drink – A Must For Keto Lifestyles

If you're living a low carb or keto lifestyle, you have probably either heard of or experienced the keto flu. I've got a great, homemade electrolyte drink to help you avoid it.

What is Keto?

Keto stands for ketogenic. Keto is a diet that forces the body to burn fats vs. carbohydrates and consists of:

  • High fats
  • Adequate proteins
  • Low carbohydrates
  • Low sugars

Experiencing the Keto Flu

Over the past two years, I've tried going all-in on the keto lifestyle. It's not easy cutting out carbs and sugar, but what made it so difficult for me was the dreaded keto flu.

A day or two into starting keto, I got terrible dizzy spells, felt weak and tired, and overall just not able to function. The keto flu's primary 'cure' is to make sure you're hydrating and replenishing your body with electrolytes. An easy way to do this is with sugar-free sports drinks like Powerade or Gatorade. I tried both, and neither was enough for me.

At the time, I just gave up on keto, thinking it just was not going to be an option for me. Then I discovered a way to avoid the keto flu with this homemade electrolyte drink.

Homemade Electrolyte Drink

This drink is made with Natural Vitality Calm which can be ordered online or can sometimes be found in Walmart or Sam's Club. The other ingredients you may already have in your pantry.

Ingredients
  • 2 Tblsp of Natural Vitality Calm
  • 1/2 tsp Lite Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Fine Himalayan Pink Salt
  • 1/2 fresh squeezed lemon
  • Optional: sweetener of choice

Directions
  1. Fill a 32 oz water bottle, jug, or container with water.
  2. Add Natural Vitality Calm, Lite Salt, Fine Himalayan Pink Salt, and fresh-squeezed lemon.
  3. Optional: add sweetener of choice such as Mio Water Enhancer.
  4. Shake well to combine.
  5. Drink right away or store in the refrigerator.

You can make up one 32 oz water bottle of this drink every morning and store it in your refrigerator. Then throughout the day, just refill your cup or tumbler until it's gone. You will not only stay hydrated but will be replacing all of those essential electrolytes too. Voila! You will avoid the keto flu.
