Surf City, Here We Come

With its 26 miles of beautiful beach and turquoise waves, Surf City on Topsail Island, North Carolina is a dream destination for vacationers as far back as the song "Surf City, Here We Come" by the Jan and Dean Band in 1963.
Walking along the beach, passing seashells, water swishing over my feet, feeling that warm Carolina sun on my arms is my favorite way to spend my time while my hometown in Wisconsin experiences its varied, unpredictable weather and the daily grind.
There's no better place in the U.S. for individuals, couples, or families to enjoy the sun, sand, and relaxation. In early fall, the beach house rentals are greatly price-reduced, and the ocean is still plenty warm for swimming and surfing.
Are you a nature lover? Topsail Island has the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center open for tours and educational exhibits. There is also the Ecological Marine Adventure's Touch Tank Aquarium on the island, full of exciting creatures and conservation information.
For seafood enthusiasts, fresh is best, and Surf City boasts three seafood markets on the island and several seafood restaurants. The following are just some of the many types of seafood available.
- Shrimp
- Grouper
- Flounder
- Crab
- Clams
- Oysters
