6.6 Jackson Writing 4 PAT

 My Dream Destination

Do you have a place or destination that you would like to visit one day? What if you could go for free and money wasn’t a problem. Where would you go? I have a place in mind. Tokyo, Japan. Japan is a country full of culture, beautiful sceneries, and delicious food. It’s is also home to anime, something I am a huge fan of. I’ve watched so many I’ve lost count. If I had the money I would go in a heartbeat, and MY reasons for wanting to go should be enough to make YOU want to go too.

Why Tokyo?

Tokyo is the capital city of Japan. It has many attractions that I can only dream of one day visiting. There are things like the beautiful Meiji Jingu Shrine, Ueno Park, Akihabara, and Shinjuku. Let me tell you a little bit more about them!

1.) Meiji Shrine

Ema

First, let start off with the Meiji Jingu Shrine. The Meiji Shrine was built in 1920 in honor of the first emperor and empress of Japan, Emperor Meiji, and Empress Shoken. There are a lot of things to do here. According to Japan-guide.com, things such as making offerings, buying charms and amulets, and writing one's names out on an ema (a plaque with a picture of a horse used to deliver wishes to the heavens) are some of the main activities. Also, surrounding the shrine is a giant forest that blocks out all industrial noises. As soon as you enter the shrine all that is to be heard is tranquility.

2.) Ueno Park

Ueno Park walk path

Next, let me talk about Ueno Park. Ueno Park is that is located in the center of Tokyo. It is akin to New York Timesquare. So just imagine something like that. What sets Ueno Park apart from all other parks in the beautiful scenery that it offers. If you go visit around March to early April you will be welcomed with the sight of 1000 cherry trees in full bloom. The cherry blossoms attract millions of tourists every year. Ueno Park doesn’t just have beautiful flowers but also a slew of museums for you to see as well. The many things to see and do are exactly what makes Ueno Park one of the places I want to visit the most!

3.) Akihabara

Akihabara

This next place in Tokyo is where I’M REALLY itching to visit and it is Akihabara. The dream destination of all weebs, nerds, and geeks (I’m all of those). Akihabara is the anime capital of the world and attracts millions of people to its bustling streets. There are arcades, electronic shops, anime stores, gaming cafes, and tons and tons of other things. Akihabara isn’t just for geeks of course. Within the city, you are sure to find something that you’d geek for.

4.) Shinjuku

Tempura

After all, that traveling and walking around you need something to eat right? Well if you are craving literally anything head to Shinjuku, an area of Tokyo that serves as a literal eating ground. Within the walls of Shinjuku, you can visit the many Michelin-starred restaurants. According to jw-webmagazine.com, there are a total of 5! That's a lot considering that Shinjuku is just an AREA in Tokyo.  the thousands of street vendors that sell food made right in front of your face.

Many of the food there include:

  • Ramen (one of my favorite foods of all time)

  • Sushi (AUTHENTIC sushi may I add)

  • Tonkatsu (fried and crunchy pork cutlet)

  •  Udon (thick what flour noodles)

  • Steak (basically served everywhere)

  • Tempura (deep-fried food)

That is just to name a handful, and I’m sure whatever you are feeling, you are sure to find it at one of the many restaurants in the area. Just thinking about all the food there is making me hungry.

These are only SOME of the places you can visit. I can assure you there are plenty of other things you can do, foods you can try, and places to see. Now in the comments section, let me know, would you like to go to Tokyo?
