 Take Me Back to Alaska

A story about how a Wisconite girl misses her Alaskan life.

Wildlife Tour By Sydney Volk
At a young age, I used to live in Fairbanks, Alaska. My parents had to drag me by my hands and feet when it was time for us to leave the only place I knew as home.

I was devastated.

At the time, I didn't have one clue as to where Wisconsin was on the map. It was a major culture shock coming to Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

I was so used to seeing moose in my backyard, I couldn't believe deer was our new wildlife creature.

As time went by, I grew to love Wisconsin but there are always those reminiscing days. There's still that tiny wish I could go back to my life as an Alaskan.

If I had enough money in the world, I would go back to Alaska in an instant.

Everywhere you look when you are in Alaska, could potentially be your new wallpaper.

Alaska was such a huge part of my life. I would love to share those memories and tour my old town again with the new people I have met in Wisconsin. Especially, my boyfriend, Brett.

We have been dating for five years now and he has only known me as a Wisconsinite. All I can share with him are my late memories.

The scenery is indescribable. It is a place where everyone should visit at least once.

According to Travel Away, Alaska came in third as the most beautiful state in America.

Places and activities I recommend when in Alaska:

I know if I had the opportunity to visit Alaska again with Brett, I would cherish it forever. It would be my ultimate dream vacation with my favorite person.
