A Christmas gift I will never forget
On Christmas of 2008, my sister and I had been waiting to open our gifts for weeks now. There was one specific box we were dying to open that was labeled for my mom, sister, and me! We were so excited to finally open it and find out what we have been peeking at for weeks. On Christmas morning we sprinted to the tree to open our presents. I remember the box being very heavy, and I had no idea what it might be!
When we finally got to that gift, we ripped it open as my dad was videoing us. We found 2 10 pound weights and an envelope. Inside the envelope were 3 tickets to the Taylor Swift fearless concert. We were absolutely ecstatic. My dad had put the weights inside to throw us off, and boy did that work! It was a moment I will never forget.
We used to listen to her fearless album every day from Christmas until the concert day in March. We had almost all of her songs memorized by heart in a month. It was such a great way to bond with my sister and my parents adored how much we loved her and how happy we were to get to go to the concert. Let alone hug her and watch her perform in the front row! It truly was such an amazing experience and we will never forget that day.
I always remember noticing there was a very large main stage ahead of our section but also a small side stage right next to us. At the time, I didn't think anything of it really. Little did I know shortly Taylor Swift would walk right next to us and perform with us in the front row.
Halfway into the show, all of the lights turned out and she went off the stage. A video played on the big screen for all of us to view while she moved to the side stage entrance. My sister and I turned around and there was a red carpet spread from the entrance to the stage, and we were right there next to it! Taylor came out to walk to the stage with a big spotlight on her, hugging all of the audience members at the sides of the ropes. She came up to my sister and me and hugged us both, and it was an amazing opportunity as a child being such a big fan. My sister and I will never forget that day!
As I am older now, I really understand and am appreciative for everything my parents did for my siblings and me growing up, I really did have an amazing childhood because of how hard they worked to make sure we had a great environment growing up. When I have my own family one day, I hope I can give my kids such a great memory for them to remember forever like that!
