Life is all about progress
December 24, 2020
It takes one step to see results!
It's 2020 the weirdest year of my life and maybe yours as well. I believe that this was the year many had obstacles in their life. For it is was my mental and physical health. I can say that covid 19 hit me hard when it came to my weight and health. I was not active nor really doing anything. I had been living that way up until the winter. Also, did not help that all the holidays were full of food as well. I have had enough at that point, and I knew something had to change. It was this past winter where I took the first step into recovering my fitness journey.
You will always fail
It was December 24 when I decided to get back into lifting and make a change. I remember it clearly as if it was just yesterday. It was Christmas eve and I was just finishing up a family gathering. I was so disappointed in where I was in life, but because of that feeling, I took that as fuel. After that Family gathering, I hit the gym at 9pm at night with my friend. It might sound fictional but I was determined to make my goals come true. At first, it was hard to keep consistency. I was terrible at making progress in the gym when it came to lifting weights. I was never getting my eight hours of sleep. Overall I was holding myself back from getting closer to my goals. I knew that, so it was always bringing me down and made me want to quit. But I never did because I knew how bad I wanted this.
It's all about how you get back up
Again another obstacle that I had to overcome to reach my goal. That was to learn what consistency really meant. After 3 weeks of eating correctly, sleeping eight hours, and having a plan for lifting. I saw progress and I was seeing a difference in my physique. Not only that but I felt more energetic and lighter. Instead of feeling bloated and disgusting all the time. It was that little taste of success for me that fueled my motivation even more. That was just a step closer to my goal. With the pieces falling into place, my body wasn't the only place I saw a change. My strength was increasing and I was reaching new boundaries when it come to the basic lifts such as squats, bench, and deadlifts. All this was demonstrating to me that it was possible.
New Boundaries
It was March 16 when I started to document my fitness journey. I wanted to show everyone what was possible. I started a fitness page for my progress. I haven't done much with it so far, but it will be the small posts here and there that will get me further into my goal. March 16 is also special because that was my first documented progress of hitting a new "Personal Record." I hit 225x7 for squats. It might not be much to some but at the time it was my exposure to lifting heavy. Also for my bench, I hit 205x2 which was insane for me. All this was good for me too. This was more fuel to my motivation.
The Journey Continues
As with everything in life, it takes that one step into a journey to become someone better. And for me, it was that late-night lift session. It was the start of my journey to get stronger and healthier. Not only that but it is supposed to be my Christmas gift for this year. To look back a year ago and compare me to last year. I have always looked at life as a journey, you never know where it's going to take you. Not only that, but it is full of lessons and experiences. I have definitely learned a thing a two on this journey to better myself. I hope to reach my goal and even if I don't I will just keep going because the journey continues. So if I can get back into a better state of health, you can also. Where will your first step start and where will it take you?
