The Simple 6-Step Recipe for Guiltless Pancakes
Fresh maple syrup dripping down the sides, a slab of melting
butter soaking in, and a dollop of almond butter oozing over the top.
The best kind of meal involves these toppings! I am one of the 3.1
million people in the United States who follows a gluten-free diet. Because of
this restriction, I am unable to delight in the delicious treats of the
traditional bread, pancakes, pies, cookies, cakes, and more wheat-filled delicacies.
Alongside this unfortunate restriction, I also found out quite recently that I
am allergic to peanuts! The combination of these two allergies has left me, a committed
food-lover, at a loss. Pancakes and peanut butter have always been near the top
of my favorite food list, both of which have now been eliminated from my diet.
In my family, there are many additional allergies to this, such as eggs, soybeans,
and dairy, that restrict my family’s eating diet even more.
So, what does any peanut-butter-pancake-lover do when they can’t indulge in their favorite food? They find alternatives to satisfy those cravings! For me, the delicious peanut butter has turned into chunky almond butter and the fluffy, delicate pancakes have turned into even better fried cakes! Even if you do not relate to my allergy journey, I am convinced that you will love these fried cakes as much as I do!
Enough chit-chat: Let’s get these cakes on the frying pan!

Hi Kayla! You did a great job using lists with in your writing. Having the ingredients listed out really helps me as a reader. The ordered, numbered list you used was great. It gave a step by step process to making these pancakes. They sound delicious!
ReplyDeleteHi Kayla, Your writing is friendly and fun. I like that you used both ordered and unordered lists for the lists of ingredients (unordered) and then the steps (ordered). They seem to be formatted correctly, all starting with capital letters and the steps all starting with the same part of speech. Nice work!
